Ahmedabad to Goa route

NH 48 south via Vadodara, Bharuch, Surat and Vapi, then NH 66 down the Konkan coast or NH 48 via Pune and Kolhapur. A typical plan:

Ahmedabad: meet at dawn
Vadodara and Bharuch
Surat and Vapi
Mumbai region (bypass the city; overnight)
NH 66 down the Konkan coast, or Pune and Kolhapur
Into North Goa, then Vagator

Inland alternative: NH 48 via Nashik or Pune to Kolhapur, then the Amboli ghat into Goa.

Route tips

Many access-controlled expressways in India are closed to two-wheelers, so plan on national highways like NH 48 and follow the signboards.
Get past Mumbai early in the morning; regroup on the far side, not in city traffic.
On a 1,000 km+ ride, split into sub-groups of 5–7 riders, each with a lead and a sweep.

Riding as a convoy

Sub-groups: 5–7 riders each, with their own lead and sweep, and one overall ride captain.
Regroup points: agree them before the ride (fuel stops, after tolls, the foot of each ghat), never on the shoulder.
Ghats in daylight: time the descent into Goa so the last ghat is done before dark.
One person on money: log fuel, tolls and stays as you go, and settle up over UPI in Goa.

What to carry

Driving licence, bike RC, insurance and PUC, plus a government ID (and copies)
Full gear: full-face helmet, riding jacket, gloves, boots
Puncture kit and inflator, chain lube, basic tools (one set per sub-group is enough)
Phone mount and charger or power bank, some cash as well as UPI
