Ladakh group bike trip checklist
For a group Ladakh ride, sort documents for every rider, carry spares per crew (not per rider), assign a lead, sweep, mechanic and money-keeper, and acclimatise in Leh before the high passes. Indian nationals no longer need an Inner Line Permit for Ladakh's protected areas since August 2021.

Documents (every rider)
- Driving licence, bike RC, insurance, PUC
- Government ID
- Photocopies of all of the above
- Rental agreement if the bike is rented
Crew spares (not per rider)
- Tubes / puncture kit and pump
- Clutch and accelerator cables
- Spark plug, fuses, chain lube
- Basic toolkit, zip ties, duct tape
- First-aid kit and altitude medication (ask a doctor)
Roles
Lead (route and pace), sweep (last, never leaves anyone), mechanic, money-keeper (logs every shared expense), medic (first-aid kit, watches for altitude sickness).
Staying together without signal
Mobile networks drop on long stretches. Agree fixed regroup points (every pass, every fuel stop), carry offline maps, and never ride ahead of the lead. A live group map works where there is signal and catches up when riders reconnect; don't rely on it alone in dead zones.
Cost split
Fuel per bike; stays, backup vehicle and permits/fees per head. Settle daily, see how to split bike trip costs.
Ride it as a crew
Create a crew on MotoHeads, post the ride with the meeting point, and let everyone RSVP. On the day, everyone shows on one live map, so the lead always knows where the sweep is. Split fuel and food over UPI after. Free.
